253 Oral Rehydration Packets in Indonesia

Ytctt1pviksadgjkkkvi

Cost: $25

Amount: 253 Packets

This simple and cost-effective treatment, containing sugar and salt, treats children suffering from dehydration resulting from malaria and other illnesses.

Oral rehydration therapy (OTR) solutions vary in composition, but usually contain a mixture of glucose, sodium, potassium and citrate. Some solutions may use products available in the home, such as salted rice water, yogurt drinks, or vegetable or chicken soups. A major advantage of ORT is its ease of administration, even in the absence of medical personnel.

Many studies, including those conducted by the World Health Organization, have shown that ORT dramatically reduces the number of deaths experienced during and after epidemics of cholera. ORT is considered to be one of the most relevant public health advances of the 20th century.
