The 'Oasis' program gathers refugee children and youth at centres to provide families displaced by conflict with a normal experience of school and interaction with non-refugee youth. Lebanese youth teach music, English, Arabic, computers and other subjects, and share food and games together. The refugee youth are not child soldiers. But they are Syrian refugees with family connections to various factions of the ongoing conflict in Syria and who are vulnerable. Some have been stuck in transition for four or more years without the opportunity to continue school and under increasing pressure to support their families. The sustainable solution we can contribute to is the Oasis summer camp program. Refugee youth from the centres can go to the Beit el Safa or "home of serenity" centre high in the Shouf Mountains week of fund and learning. They can build connections with other youth and with Lebanese mentors who follow up influence and encourage refugee youth and their families back in the camps or in the city.
