OUR PROJECTS

Eyes on Syria

Fpciblz9fif5i0nf2nqv

The sustainable solution this project provides for refugee care, is the reintegration of refugees back into their home country. All the care being given is with the end goal of helping refugees settle back home when the crisis there lessens. Eyes on Syria is the opening of a refugee centre in the city of Holms. This is a base to help many of the people who have been cared for in Lebanon find support as they return home. Right now in Lebanon our partner is serving hundreds of families in Beirut and in the Bekaa Valley. They provide food relief, and other critical support. Before Covid-19 restrictions took effect, they ran Saturday programs that provided academic skills and other outlets for children like sports, and music lessons, and programs for women like sewing and English. We are going to help launch the same practical programs in Syria for returning refugees. The organization will connect their clients with resources in Syria so they can rebuild their lives. This will include assistance for housing. Our support this month will go to practical food support to families in Syria who are returning from their stay as refugees in Lebanon. There is little to no opportunity for Syrian refugees there. The Lebanese government was close to declaring bankruptcy at end of 2019 and over 40% of the general Lebanese population is now below the poverty line. As you can imagine, Syrian refugees have been impacted to a greater degree. Their already limited ability to find day labour has been erased. Voting for Eyes on Syria this month will provide food packages to help returning refugees survive as they find their way back their homeland.
