OUR THEMES

THEME

HOUSING

Having somewhere to call home is critical to having a healthy and productive life; however, a recent UN study showed that approximately one hundred million people are homeless worldwide and 1.6 billion people are living in places that do not meet their basic needs.

People lack adequate housing for a variety of reasons, including: housing prices, disabilities, armed conflict, and natural disasters. As a result, people are left homeless, forced to live in shelters, on the streets, or with family/friends. If they do have a home, they often give up other necessities such as their safety or a healthy diet in order to pay for their home. In the month of July, Kutoa will be partnering with organizations that help people to build homes, provide them with shelter, and/or attend to other basic needs.
