Shelter for the Vulnerable

Location: Cambodia

The HFH program in Cambodia emphasizes housing and integrated community development that promotes gender equality and solutions for vulnerable groups, including those living with HIV/AIDS and orphans, water and sanitation, land tenure, disaster response and mitigation.

Currently one of HFH International’s highest priority countries for Asia Pacific, the program in Cambodia has served almost 2,000 families to date and now has a five-year goal of assisting 10,000 families.

Habitat and its partners also facilitate access to adequate and affordable safe water and electricity connections, and proper toilets. The use of solar energy is especially encouraged.

A Habitat house in Cambodia is usually 31.5 sq. m. in size and uses hand-made stabilized soil blocks.
