Provide Teacher Training
Teacher Training Programs give local teachers a chance to earn a successful livelihood and children an opportunity to access a quality education.
In Kenya, Free The Children works in partnership with the Ministry of Education to ensure that the material covered throughout the school year compliments the curriculum of the government. As such, teachers are hired and paid for by the government. Free The Children works with teachers to enhance their training to provide students with the best educational experience possible.
The Teacher Training Program consists of workshops for all of Free The Children’s primary schools. The workshops encourage teachers to be passionate about their work and help students achieve academic excellence. The workshops are also a forum for teachers to discuss issues and challenges they are facing and come up with solutions.
Additionally, part of Free The Children’s educational programming is the School Pride Program. This program is a friendly competition that encourages academic and extracurricular excellence for both school staff and students. This program encourages students to take pride in their educational progress by showcasing their academic achievements. This also motivates and inspires teachers to remain dedicated to the success of their school and the development of their students.
