Summer School Program
Allow a Group of Students to Attend a 4-Week Summer Camp
Summer programs are a part of WE Villages programming, where a four-week summer camp program takes place. Approximately 20-30 students per community have the opportunity to learn about leadership, teambuilding, photography, community values, storytelling, public speaking, computers and presentations. Children and youth in these communities “grow-up” at a very early age. Instead of having free time to play and explore the world, children (especially young girls) spend their days taking care of their younger siblings, helping out with family chores and working in the field helping their parents harvest crops. Creating a program in which children and youth are able to learn about themselves and the world through play gives them the opportunity to for once, be and act their own age. The summer school program covers an array of topics, such as sanitation, health care, nutrition, computer skills, human rights and leadership through interactive games and play. This helps increase the self-esteem and confidence of the youth and children. The summer programs create a space in which students are able to be children and share experiences with their peers.
